Around the turn of the century, my children were small, Russia (which was not yet associated with Putin) was a humiliated country, and the Communist system deemed a failure.  In this picture book for my children, I tried to imagine a story that would reveal the forgotten earlier history of Russia along with the human solidarity which had been the — unfortunately unrealized — principle of its ideal culture in the twentieth century.
